Connections for Development Forum 2021

On the afternoon of April 26, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs cooperated with the Vietnam Economic Times to organize the Connections for Development Forum 2021 with the theme: Connecting localities – businesses, seizing new opportunities and the 20 Anniversary of golden dragon awards, as well as Announcing and Honoring Top 10 sustainable and typical FDI enterprises in 2020.

Attending the forum includes Mr. Pham Binh Minh, Member of the Politburo, Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. Bui Thanh Son, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Vu Tien Loc, Chairman of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and  Representatives of 63 provinces and cities; ambassadors, representatives of trade promotion organizations, foreign business associations, and more than 200 FDI enterprises and Vietnamese enterprises.

Representatives from Vinh Phuc province includes Mr. Le Duy Thanh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee – Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Leaders of some related Departments and agencies.

The 2021 Vietnam Connections for Development Forum was jointly hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vietnam Economic Times. The event is of great significance when Vietnam has spent 33 years attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) and is facing the opportunity to welcome the 4th wave of FDI attraction with promising potential technological “Eagles” projecst.

This year’s forum will be a connecting activity with practical significance for localities, domestic enterprises, and foreign investors to openly exchange about each other’s needs, potentials, and advantages, That establishment identifies new investment opportunities, has plans and measures to promote cooperation for the benefit of localities, businesses as well as  for the common development of the country.

Speaking at the opening of the forum, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son affirmed that this year’s Forum is one of a series of activities organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to promote connection, update, and exchange of information, strengthen the connection. The linkage between stakeholders, expand cooperation, identify new investment opportunities; creating a resonance strength to overcome challenges, towards prosperity and sustainable development.

Welcoming the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and related agencies for organizing the Forum, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh indicated groups of solutions to attract FDI inflows, including maintaining a stable environment; improving the quality of institutions and laws, improving the capacity of state governance; to encourage domestic enterprises to enter into joint ventures or association with foreign enterprises.

Speaking at the Forum, Mr. Le Duy Thanh – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee – Chairman of Vinh Phuc Provincial People’s Committee emphasized that over the past years, Vinh Phuc has always been at the top of the country’s leading localities in attracting foreign direct investment and was in the Top 5 localities with the most budget contributions to the Central Government. Vinh Phuc commits to fully meet the requirements of FDI enterprises when investing in the province. With the spirit of innovation in approach, methods and perception and thinking, Vinh Phuc will prepare the best conditions for policy mechanisms, infrastructure, and training human resources to attract a new investment wave recovered after Covid -19. The message that Vinh Phuc province wants to send to all investors: Vinh Phuc will become a bridge carrying the mission of connecting FDI enterprises and DDI businesses, creating a favoreable conditions to promote cooperation for the general development of the country.

Awarding the Golden Dragon Medal of Vietnam Economic Times to typical localities on FDI attraction and implementation and embassies and representatives of countries with effective FDI inflows in Viet Nam. Korea received the national award for most FDI investment in Vietnam. The Golden Dragon Award is one of the prestigious awards, held since 2000 with the combination of Vietnam Economic Times, Foreign Investment Department, Ministry of Planning and Investment. The award is to honor the outstanding contributions of foreign direct investment to the Vietnamese economy.

Vinh Phuc was honored to be awarded the Golden Dragon title as one of the five typical localities for attracting and effectively implementing FDI sources, and 03 FDI enterprises investing in Vinh Phuc are Honda Vietnam Co., Ltd. Toyota Vietnam Co., Ltd., and Piaggio Vietnam Co., Ltd ranked  among the top 10 most typical and sustainable foreign direct investment enterprises in Vietnam./.
