Vietnam – France Two-way trade hits 3.5 billion euros
According to the statistics from French Custom, Vietnam – France two-way trade reached 3.5 billion euros in 2013, a year-on-year rise of 6%, Vietnam Trade Office in France said.
Of that figure, Vietnam fetched 2.79 billion euros from exports, up 4% and 704 million euros from imports, up 14.7%. Vietnamese traditional exports to France included machinery and electronic components (956 million euros), garment (323 million euros), footwear (484 million euros), seafood (76.9 million euros), coffee and pepper (86.2 million euros), etc, which maintained a year-on-year increase of 1-4%.
Specially, the group of pharmaceuticalscexperienced a sharp rise of 300%. Its exports to France were only 36,000 euros in 2012, but hit 142,000 euros in 2013, up nearly 4 times. Besides, other Vietnamese exports with certain positions in French market might be further developed, headed by handcrafted wicker products with the export value of 5.9 million euros. In spite of the low export value, it accounted for over 10% of French import market, also get the highest share of Vietnamese export market to France.
Other exports included leather bags (over 80 million euros with a market share of 2.5%), preparation and food of meat, fish and other animals (26 million euros with a market share of 1.5%)
Meanwhile, pharmaceuticals still topped the list of Vietnamese imports from France, reached 142.6 million euros, up 2% compared with 2012. The followings were aviation equipment (mainly aircraft and satellite equipment) hitting 106.6 million euros in comparision with 6 million euros in 2012, the figure’s change depends on annually delivery contracts. Other imports from France included engineering products (49 million euros, down 18% compared with 2012) and machinery and electronic components (49.7 million euros, down 15% compared with 2012).
