Investment promotion activities of Vinh Phuc delegation in Australia from December 5th -8th, 2014

On December 5th – 8th, 2014, Investment promotion trip of Vinh Phuc province led by Mrs. Duong Thi Tuyen member of Provincial Standing Committee, Deputy Permanent Chairwoman of Vinh Phuc People’s Committee continue to investment promotion activities in Australia. The delegation visited and worked with Vietnam General Consulate in Sydney, Vietnamese Overseas Association in Australia, RMIT University – Australia.

Australia located in the Southern hemisphere with a vast territory of 7.692.024 km2, situated in India-Australia plate tectonics and surrounded by Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean. Australia is isolated from Asia by the Arafura Sea and Timor Sea. Australia has 34,218 km of coastline (21,262 miles), including offshore islands and area of the exclusive economic zone of Australia is 8,148,250 km2. By 2013 Australia’s population has nearly 23 million people; Canberra is the capital lies in the Southeast of Australia. Australia has six states and two main territories located on the continent. In addition to there are also a few other parts territory under the control of the federal government. The most of topography of the central and western regions of Australia was plateau with elevations between 400m to 600m, of which there are many great deserts. This is a sparsely populated area, but account for 50% of the country’s territory. In contrast, the low plains to the east coast are home to the majority of the Australian population. The climate is temperate in Australia, abundant natural resources.

In 2013, Total Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Australia reached US $ 1,488 billion; ranking 12th in the world, the average income is US $ 64,157 per capita, exports reached US $263 billion. Australia has the advantage of high-tech agriculture, mining, food processing, information technology and services, especially in trade, tourism and training services.

On December 5th, 2014, the delegation worked with Vietnam General Consulate in Sydney is headquartered at Suite 205, Level 2 Edgecliff Center 203-233 New South Head Road Edgeliff NSW 2027, Sydney. Mr. Hoang Minh Son – General Consulate, Mrs. Thuy – Deputy General Consulate, trade Counsellor in Australia and Mr. Song – Deputy General Consulate was hosted cordially with mission. Sydney is the dynamic development city, especially in trade and tourism, therefore, the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia working here. Working with the General Consul, Mrs. Duong Thi Tuyen introduced social economy and business investment environment of Vinh Phuc province, She thanked the Embassy of Vietnam, Vietnam General Consulate in Australia has supported Vinh Phuc’s organizations and citizens living in Australia to work, study, research, industrial and commercial transactions. She suggested Vietnam General Consulate in Sydney as a bridge to introduce investors from Australia to Vinh Phuc to study and explore investment opportunities, and requested to help Vinh Phuc in joint training developing high-quality human resources, seeking  export markets in Australia a number of traditional craft items (furniture, rattan, …) of Vinh Phuc. Hoang Minh Son expressed willingness to support Vinh Phuc province to attract investment, joint training of human resources and find export markets as recommended by the Vinh Phuc delegation.

On December 7th,2014, the delegation visited and worked with Vietnamese Overseas Business Association in Melbourne. Mr. Dao Ba Phuc – Chairman and Mr. Phan Van Danh – Vice Chairman and members of the Executive Board worked with mission. With more 200 members, Vietnamese Overseas Business Association in Melbourne had a number of close activities, mutual assistance and development, and held many practical activities towards the homeland, of which support regularly students, graduate students from Vietnam to study, researchers at Melbourne. Several members of Association have succeeded in producing business investment in many sectors in Australia; some members have investment projects in Vietnam. Mrs. Duong Thi Tuyen was briefed about the social economic situation, business investment environment of Vietnam, of Vinh Phuc province and proposed the Vietnamese overseas Association in Australia to study and more invested in many projects in Vietnam, in Vinh Phuc province. Mr. Dao Ba Phuc – Chairman was accepted the invitation from Duong Thi Tuyen, will organize Vietnamese overseas business delegation to visit and explore investment opportunities in Vinh Phuc in soonest time, in which focuses on investments in agriculture, and expressed willingness to support students, graduate students, businesses from Vinh Phuc province to Melbourne to study, research, trade transactions.

On December 12th, 2014, the delegation visited and worked wwith RMIT University, Australia is headquartered at Building 223 Level 1 Bundoora West Campus Plenty Budoora VIC 3083 Australia. Working with delegation includes Professor- Ph.D. Trevor Stevenson, Dr. Van Thi Thu Hao and professors of Faculty of Biotechnology crops. The provincial mission was introduced about Faculty of Biotechnology crops and RMIT University and scientific research topics succeed in school such as creating grasses resistant to harsh weather, planting in urban areas, golf courses, Manufacture of pesticides and weeds growing in the lawn; Handling of antibiotic residues in food, catfish … by Professor – Dr. Trevor Stevenson and their colleagues. Specially, the mission was very impressed in modern genetic Decoder device was installed in School, decoding genes in a short time that previously took decades to complete. This technology was boosted dramatically in research to create new varieties through genetic modification. Chairwoman Duong Thi Tuyen sincerely thank representatives of the school was respectfully received and provided much useful information, information about a number of great topics in science research which is suitable for demanding applications in Vinh Phuc, also in Vietnam; Vinh Phuc province will send students to study and research a number of  fields that RMIT University has strengths.

At the end of 08/12/2014, the delegation of Vinh Phuc province come back to Vietnam, Investment promotion trip in 2014 in New Zealand and Australia was completed successfully. /.
