Vinh Phuc Province to attend 2020 Conference with Korean representatives
On June 03, 2020, in Hanoi, Vinh Phuc representatives – senior officers from Planning and Investment Department as well as Foreign Affair Department – attended “2020 Meet Korea” meeting hosted by Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with Korea Embassy in Vietnam.
Attending the Conference, on the Vietnamese side, there was Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son; representatives of ministries and central branches; over 500 delegates which are leaders and business representatives across the country.
On the Korean side, there were Korean Ambassador to Vietnam Park Noh-wan, representatives of economic and trade agencies, development cooperation, labor, tourism, Korean business associations, and more than 400 Korean enterprises.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister Bui Thanh Son praised the rapid developments in the Vietnam-Korea Strategic Partnership partnership for nearly 30 years since its establishment. The Deputy Minister also affirmed that Vietnam – Korea cooperation in general and local level cooperation of the two countries in particular still has plenty of room to develop, benefiting sides.
The “2020 Meet Korea” conference was jointly organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Korean Embassy in Vietnam to create conditions in order to support local governments and businesses in Vietnam to actively connect, exchange and promote. promoting cooperation activities with Korean partners. At the Conference, the parties focused on discussing cooperation issues such as development cooperation (ODA), human resource cooperation, labor, tourism, trade, investment, health care, people-to-people exchange, etc.
Deputy Minister Bui Thanh Son and Ambassador Park Noh-wan shared the significance of the event in the context that the two countries have well-controlled the Covid-19 epidemic and are entering the stage of Strict coordination to control epidemics in each country, maintain good relations, and promote economic development.
According to Ambassador Park Noh-wan, the relationship between Vietnam and Korea was not only a normal partner but also a ‘connexion’ relationship, the people of the two countries are increasingly understanding each other. This is due to the similarities in culture, history, and the benefits of sustainable development. Ambassador Park also expressed his wish that the Vietnamese Government and local authorities will continue to support and create favorable conditions for Korean businesses to operate conveniently and permanently in Vietnam, especially in these difficult times as the two countries have successfully controlled the Covid-19 pandemic, entering the stage of economic recovery.
Speaking at the Conference, delegates from both countries shared the two countries’ policies on development cooperation, trade-investment, and local cooperation in the following period; as well as opportunities and directions for cooperation to achieve the efficiency of the two Parties. Local Vietnamese speakers shared their experiences in implementing cooperative activities with Korean partners and asked for Korean investment in their localities.
The two countries also need to continue expanding cooperation between the people’s organizations, supporting community development, creating favorable conditions for each citizen of the two countries to live, work, and study stably in the other country. Vietnam has great potential for development in many different industries, such as manufacturing, materials manufacturing, infrastructure construction, energy, finance, pharmaceuticals, information technology, logistics, and so on which could well-cooperate with the strength of Korean companies that offer copious capital, high technical level, and good management ability.
At the Conference’s stalls, Vinh Phuc province has provided information and documents introducing the potential and investment opportunities in Vinh Phuc to many visitors. Currently, South Korea has 210 direct investment projects with a total capital of over 2.2 billion USD in Vinh Phuc, which is the country with the largest number of projects and capital of 18 countries/territories having invested in Vinh Phuc. Although affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, in the first 6 months of 2020, Vinh Phuc province has attracted over 135 million USD of FDI capital. And just in June, there were 6 delegations of investors and diplomatic agencies of several countries visited and explored investment opportunities, these are positive signs in the province’s investment promotion and attraction.
