FDI Japan toward to agriculture

Japanese investor believe that, 2015 will be agricultural year and it is cooperation trend

“We can set up industrial cluster associated with product, building the process to ensure food safety in order to enhance value for agriculture product in Vietnam. We can bring our customer to Vietnam” He said.

To have a sound evidence, at the middle of May, both Always and Veggy of Japanese Companies visited Vinh Phuc to seek investment opportunities for clearance agricultural and hi- tech projects.

To meet the leaders of Vinh Phuc province, two investors don’t hesitate to share that they desire to develop a project that provides fresh vegetable for Japanese restaurants systems in Vietnam and export to Japan market, with the export revenues in the first year is about 1 USD million. The second phase, the investors will expand the scale from 5- 10 ha of the first phase up 50 ha, to meet the demand of the market.

As planned, Always and Veggy will venture with Vietnam enterprises to deploy the project, both machinery use and modern technology and experience of Japan experts, both can still make most available human resources in the local.

Not only in Vinh Phuc, some Japanese investors has came Binh Dinh province to seek the development opportunities in the field catching and processing tuna. The recent time, Japanese enterprises delegation visited Mekong Delta – rice bowl of Vietnam where there is much potential for development of agricultural and fishery products such as fruit and fish….to seek the investment opportunities.

Mr. Yasuzumi Hirotaka, Executive Director of JETRO organization in HCM city affirmed the specific concern of Japanese enterprises for agricultural sector of Vietnam. “Japanese enterprises approach carefully toward to comprehensive cooperation with the local enterprise in Vietnam and I hope that they will build and develop the good business relations with the Vietnam’s partners in the coming time ” Mr. Hirotaka  said.

It should also be recalled, during a visit to Japan in March last year of President Truong Tan Sang, president also affirmed the expectation to promote the cooperation in the agricultural sector with Japan. The expectation to attraction investment of Japan into advanced technology agriculture so as to export third countries has been put out.

A problem is that even Vietnamese people have not fully trust to Vietnamese food. Therefore, President of Forval Group (Japan) spoken in the interview on Investment trend of Japan in Vietnam’s agriculture “we would like to cooperate with Vietnam Government for products of higher quality, ensure hygiene and food safety. When creating the trust for the domestic market, then we use it as strength for export to foreign countries”

According to Mr. Okubo, Forval desire to set up the standard of food hygiene and safety in Vietnam, similar to the standard Japanese JASS. Mr. Okubo said “the products have this standard, the people can use completely comfortable. If we do that, Vietnam’s agriculture will be developed further”
