Investment promotion activities of Vinh Phuc Province in Denmark

The delegation was respectfully welcomed by Mr. Ove Ullerup – Chairman of Asia House cum Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Danish Lord Chamberlain, Former Danish Ambassador to Vietnam (1998-2001), Mr. Casten Denker Nieben – Chairman of the Asian Business Forum and Ms. Thea Hammerskov – In charge of Asian relations in  Confederation of Danish Industry (DI). Joining the reception delegation also included Vietnamese Ambassador to Denmark, Mr. Lai Ngoc Doan.

Asia House is the venue for many activities and events to foster relations with Asian countries. It is also a central focal point to organize seminars, conferences and exhibitions in which Asian countries and their embassy promote and strengthen their economic, trade and cultural relations with Danish. It regularly organizes some annual meetings for the Ambassadors of Asian countries and Danish enterprises to exchange information or for newly-appointed Danish Ambassador to present to and consult Asia House’s Leadership before his/her business trip to Asia.

Asia Business Forum has function to organize events and operate as a bridge to foster the relationships and connections between the Danish enterprises and its Asian partners. Every year, the Forum organizes several major conferences with the participation of CEOs of leading companies in Denmark as well as scholars, scientists and researchers on economic cooperation with Asian countries. It is sponsored by over 60 senior officials of the Denmark’s Government and the major companies in Denmark having economic cooperation with Asian countries. In the past years, Asian House and Asian Business Forum have been effectively strengthened and fostered the relations with Vietnam.

At the meeting, Chairman Phung Quang Hung thanked the solemn reception of the Chairmen of Asia House and Asian Business Forum. He introduced an outline of geographic position, advantages and investment climate of Vinh Phuc Province and highly appreciate the comprehensive development of Denmark, especially in the field of energy saving and environmental protection. He realized that Denmark has some FDI projects in south and central of Vietnam but no FDI project in the north. Thus, he expected that the Chairmen of Asia House and Asian Business Forum could, thanks to their reputation, extensive relationships with Danish enterprises and love with Vietnam, be a bridge to connect Danish enterprises in demand of seeking investment opportunities to Vinh Phuc Province.

For their part, the Chairmen of Asia House and Asian Business Forum presented some contents and experiences in investment climate improvement, sustainable economic development associated with energy savings and environmental protection. They promised to introduce Vinh Phuc’s investment climate, to create favorable conditions for Danish enterprises visiting Vinh Phuc Province, to increase information exchange of investment with Vinh Phuc’s Government and make a chance for Vinh Phuc Province joining in the activities of the Danish enterprise delegation along with the Denmark’s Minister of Trade and Environment in the business trip to Vietnam in January, 2015.

In the afternoon, Chairman Phung Quang Hung leading the Delegation visited and worked with Vietnamese Embassy in Denmark. At the meeting, Ambassador Lai Ngoc Doan highly appreciated the significant role of Vinh Phuc Investment Promotion Delegation to Denmark in context of well-ongoing relations between the two countries. Denmark has small population but has advanced technology, especially in energy saving and environmental protection. The Ambassador would create the best conditions to support Vinh Phuc Province to introduce investment climate to enterprises in Denmark, to export labor with limited time to Denmark in agricultural sector. The embassy would connect some Denmark’s beer manufacturers which are interested in investing and building beer factories in Vietnam and advise them to consider and study the possibility of investing to Vinh Phuc Province./.
