Vietnam – UK trade up 19.48%

European Market Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam) showed two-way trade between Vietnam and UK reached about US$4.27 billion in 2013, increased 19.48% compared to 2012.

Wood and tiber products to the UK hit US$217 million

In recent years, the UK has become one of the European large market for Vietnam products with high two-way trade turnover.

The figure of US$4.27 billion surpasses the set target of US$4 billion by 2013 in their 2010 Strategic Partnership Agreement, expressing the determination and efforts of the two governments and enterprises to build and strengthen the bilateral relationship.

According to Vietnam Custom statistics,  Vietnam exports to the UK reached US$3.69 billion in 2013, up 21.94%; Vietnam imports from the UK were US$573.27 million, up 5.7%.

The major Vietnamese exports to the UK included mobile phone handsets and components (US$1.24 billion), footwear (US$543 million), garment (US$471 million), wood and tiber products (US$217 million), seafood (US$143 million), computers and components (US$400 million), coffee (US$86 million) and plastic products (nearly US$88 million).

Meanwhile, machinery and equipment topped the list of Vietnamese imports from the UK, reached US$194 million. The followings were pharmaceuticals (US$79 million), pesticides (US$42 million), chemical products (US$34 million) and iron and steel scraps (US$24 million).
