Computer, Smartphone, and Electronics Industry
With the presence of many companies in the electronics industry, notably Compal (Vietnam) Co., Ltd., one of the major Taiwanese (Chinese) companies specializing in manufacturing of laptop and peripheral equipment, Vinh Phuc has great potential for the development of the computer, smartphone, and electronics industry.
Currently, there are about 3,800 information technology, electronics, telecommunications, and digital technology enterprises in the province. There are also 540 digital technology-enabled transportation and logistics service providers, as well as over 470 digital technology startups, accounting for approximately 35% of the total number of businesses in the province. In recent years, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, the electronic component manufacturing industry has continuously grown due to the increased demand for communication and work-from-home devices in the context of social distancing measures. Moreover, the pandemic has led to the closure of many computer and electronics manufacturing companies worldwide, creating favorable conditions for the province’s export of electronic components and products to expand its consumer market. In 2021, the total revenue of this region reached VND110,850 billion, and the total production value of the electronics, telecommunications, information technology, broadcasting, and television production and services industry was over VND25,500 billion, accounting for 18.7% of the total GRDP.
According to statistics, the group of computer, electronics products and components in Vinh Phuc has effectively exploited traditional markets, as well as sought and developed new markets such as the United States, ASEAN, Japan, South Korea, and has been experiencing strong export growth to the EU market, including the Netherlands, Germany, the Czech Republic, and others. Many large enterprises in the area have actively overcome difficulties and seized opportunities as Vietnam integrates deeper into the global economy to expand their production and business scale and establish their position in the market. Some notable companies include Heasung Vina Co., Ltd., Pratron Vina Co., Ltd., Jawa Vina Co., Ltd., Power Logics Vina Co., Ltd., among others.
In the coming years, as Vietnam focuses on promoting the implementation of e-government, the digital transformation in various sectors, and the establishment of smart factories through cooperation programs between the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Samsung Vietnam, there will continue to be opportunities for domestic market development and the global export of computer components and products from electronic component manufacturers in Vinh Phuc province and throughout the country.
